Major Contractor of the Year
We were delighted to win two awards at Building Magazine's 2009 Awards. We scooped Major Contractor of the Year and our Chairman and Chief Executive, Paul Drechsler, was also honoured as he was named Chief Executive of the Year.
Social Housing Contractor of the Year
Wates Living Space was honoured to win "Contractor of the Year" in the only awards that pay tribute to the work of social housing contractors, the 2009 Housing Excellence Awards.
Sunday Times Green List
The Sunday Time revealed the 60 Best Green Companies in Britain and we were really pleased to be ranked 26th .is this definitive guide to businesses with the most radically improved environmental performances.
Gold place in CSR index
Our gold place in the BITC CSR index recognises the efforts of all of our people in making a difference to their customers, suppliers and communities.
Best Company
We are very proud that as a result of the views expressed by over 1,000 Wates employees, we achieved accreditation as a Best Company to work for in 2008.
Rospa Gold
Safety is a top priority within Wates Group, and our excellent safety record has resulted in RoSPA Gold Awards for Occupational Safety and the British Safety Council Awards for the past five years.
Investor in People
In 2008 we were re-accredited with our Investor In People Standard.
Building Sustainable Contractor of the Year
We had a double win at the 2008 Building Magazine’s Sustainability Awards scooping Contractor of the Year and our sustainability manager, Rachel Woolliscroft, won the Sustainability Champion Award.
Building Good Employer
We pride ourselves on being an employer of choice within the Construction industry. Getting into Building Magazine’s Good Employers Guide, entirely as a result of the views of our employees is the best external recognition we could ask for.
Committed 2 Equality
In 2008 we achieved accreditation to Committed to Equality, a diversity assured organisation, C2E is a not for profit organisation that promotes diversity through its C2E kitemark.
National Work Experience Council
We are the proud of the fact that we were the first construction company to receive the kite mark from the National Work Experience Council which reflects the quality training placements we offer.
Considerate Contractor
We became an associate member of the Considerate Contractor scheme in 2008. Many of our sites are independently audited to ensure they meet stringent guidelines.
National Business Award
We received the Corporate Responsibility Award for the South East of England regional heat of the 2008 National Business Awards programme.
