Introducing Ching
In his role as assistant management accountant, Ching is responsible for business reporting for our construction business.
Personal Statement
I joined in 2000 when the company I was working for was taken over by Wates. Although Wates are much bigger than my previous employer the change has been easy. I’ve been supported through my Chartered Institute of Management Accountants studies, which I am one case study and one paper away from completing! I was also really pleased to receive a Business Excellence award from Wates recently as I achieved a record cash balance for the company.
My Week
I am responsible for business reporting for construction which means that I cover overheads, cash reporting, monthly reports and the management accounts. My week will depend on where we are in the 4 to 5 week reporting cycle. I’ll be working on different reports and providing information which is needed for various meetings by the commercial guys. You do need to be analytical, numerical and logical in how you think but you also need to get on with people, they need to trust you. I work with a great team and really enjoy the variety of my work.
