As a business development advisor, Alina researches potential new opportunities for our construction business.
Personal Statement
I joined Wates two years ago as a trainee bid manager for the PFI (Private Finance Initiative) sector. I was looking for a career change at the time and I’d heard that Wates had excellent training programmes for new starters so I was really keen to take up the opportunity to join when it came.
My Week
I’ve recently taken on a new role as business development advisor and it is my responsibility to source new opportunities for the construction business. I do this through researching key journals and networking. I then put forward a business case to bid for a particular piece of wok. Every two weeks we have a meeting where the business cases are reviewed and the decision is made whether to pursue them or not. I am very new to the role but I’m really enjoying working with departments across the business to pull all the information that I need together.
