Wates Group is looking for an Assistant Land Manager to join our Commercial Land & Logistics team

Working alongside the Commercial Land Director and Commercial Land Manager, you will support the delivery of our land acquisition strategy across England, helping to identify and secure high-quality opportunities within the logistics and retail warehousing sector.

This is a fantastic opportunity to build your network, develop your commercial acumen, and play a key role in bringing forward strategic land opportunities.

About the Role

As our Assistant Commercial Land Manager, you will:

  • Identify, research and appraise land opportunities in line with Wates Commercial Land & Logistics objectives
  • Support the acquisition of commercial land opportunities, ensuring strong commercial outcomes
  • Build and maintain a robust network of land agents and industry contacts, representing Wates to a high professional standard
  • Support negotiations to secure land interests on the best possible terms
  • Assist with due diligence, land valuations and viability assessments
  • Manage the smooth handover of sites to the Projects team and acting as a key liaison on land matters
  • Support the disposal of consented land, helping to maximise value and return

About You

We are looking for someone with:

  • Experience or knowledge of land sourcing within commercial, logistics or industrial sectors
  • Strong understanding of land acquisition, contracts, and planning processes
  • Ability to assess land opportunities, including valuation fundamentals
  • Excellent relationship-building skills, with confidence in networking and stakeholder engagement
  • Strong negotiation skills and commercial awareness

WORKING FOR WATES LAND & DEVELOPMENT DIVISION
