You should be self-motivated, high energy, proactive and adept at multitasking. You should also be able to apply engineering principles to problem solving. In engineering, having people who can think differently is a real advantage.
In addition, we’d like you to have a collaborative mindset and be transparent and open in your approach to work. Design or commissioning skills would be good too. We’d also like you to have a degree, or above, in building services engineering, mechanical or electrical engineering or another adjacent discipline.

PROJECT DELIVERY LEAD Wates have terrific opportunity for a Project Delivery Lead to join our team covering London and the South East and the need to on occasions support with other projects across the UK. ABOUT THE ROLE As the Project Delivery Lead you will work with the FM Project Manager and commercial team, and the wider Wates FM business to deliver projects of differing in value and complexity, ensuring projects are delivered to the highest possible standards of safety and quality and compliance to our Wates Operating standards. We are looking for a Project Delivery Lead with strong demonstrable experience of leading a team with history of successful delivery of projects up to £2m in value. Sound understanding of construction phase H&S, Business-Critical systems, and Change Management Procedures with SMSTS, First AID, Membership to the Institute of Safety and Health (IOSH) or equivalent, NVQ Level 2-3 in Electrical or Mechanical Discipline. To be successful in the role you will have strong interpersonal, problem solving and site management skills, be someone who can demonstrate the ability to plan, monitor & manage the business functions and project delivery whilst aligning the delivery of the overall business strategy. Some of the other Key Accountabilities as Project Delivery Lead include: Own and lead all aspects of the project like planning, monitoring, coordination, controlling processes, summarising progress of the project and setting deadlines for completion of the project. Produce project documentation & feasibility to completion in line with Wates FM and Clients requirement and agree documentation format with Client Account Representative and support services function. SHIFT ENGINEER Wates have excellent opportunity for a skilled Electrical Shift Engineer to join our team based on-site at our client’s site in near Hinxton ,Cambridge, providing both planned and reactive maintenance to all relevant electrical equipment, controlling and operating of building operational systems, with a clear focus on Energy and the Environment and ensuring compliance to Health & Safety matters in relation to both direct and indirect scope of this role. ABOUT THE ROLE We are looking for you to have excellent communication and people management skills with a sound judgement and a focus on achieving high standards and quality assurance. To be successful in the role you will have a working knowledge of the Statutory Regulations and Codes of Practice applicable to the maintenance industry with IOSH Working Safely and a specific up to date qualification relating to the electrical trade. This role operates on a shift rota, and any offer subject to acquiring the relevant security checks. Some of the Shift Engineer’s Key Accountabilities will include: • Ensure that all relevant help desk calls (both planned and reactive) are fully completed with sufficient information and are passed back to the Supervisor in accordance with the defined timescales • Proactively monitor and improve the operation of building systems to ensure optimum performance with a clear focus on energy efficiency and continuous improvement. • First line response for all planned and reactive maintenance on all M&E plant including electrical systems included in pumps, motors, drives, AHU’s, LV switch gear, PLC’s, SCADA.
