Inclusion and diversity
A place where everyone can thrive
Everybody should feel welcome at Wates, and we want to attract the best talent that we can. We are a fair place to work, and we offer excellent opportunities for people to build their career with us. Wates is a very inclusive organisation, and our employee networks are open to all. No matter who you are, or your background, you’ll find a sense of belonging here.
Social value
Creating thriving communities
Social value is a golden thread that runs through everything we do. We care about the good we as a business can do for the economy, for our communities, and for society. We want to improve people’s lives. We support those who are most disadvantaged and marginalised. We know that talent has no limits. That’s why our doors are always open to those who face barriers to work..
Environment and Sustainability
Helping our planet thrive
We want you to help us build a cleaner, greener, and better future. We know this sector is responsible for 25% of the UK’s greenhouse gas emissions. As a major player in the field, we can make a big difference. That’s why we’re doing all we can to be more sustainable and have committed to net zero and zero waste by 2045.
Health and Safety
Everyone should be safe, secure and happy at work.
At Wates, the health, safety, and wellbeing of our employees, partners, and supply chain are top priorities. Our Zero Harm campaign, launched in 2016, has made us a leader in health and safety. We aim to continually improve our record and eliminate all risks.
We also focus on protecting lone and remote workers with advanced safety technology. This includes the PeopleSafe Lone Pro Worker App and MySOS device, alongside thorough training. We provide supportive spaces, an employee Inclusion Network, and digital resources via Peppy Health, to support mental health too. Thanks to these efforts, we have achieved a silver rating in Mind’s Workplace Wellbeing Index Awards.
Innovation
We look for a better way
At Wates, innovation is at the core of everything we do. We harness new technology and forward-thinking approaches to create safer, more sustainable, and efficient buildings that meet the evolving needs of our customers.
Our commitment to innovation goes beyond technology. It also encompasses refining systems, processes, and business models. From expanding offsite construction at our Prism facility to embedding modern methods of construction across our projects, we work hard to improve building performance.
Our Adapt 3.0 design for schools and the Wates Innovation Network (WIN) portal, are helping to drive progress toward a net zero future. This ensures that our customers further benefit from cutting-edge solutions and insights driven by data.
