The Role
We are looking for a Bid Writer to join our Proposals team, based out of our Newbury office. This role plays an important part in our work‑winning activity, supporting the development of clear, compelling and client‑focused bids across our Construction business.
You'll work closely with bid, pre‑construction and delivery colleagues, contributing to submissions that showcase Wates' strengths, experience and values.
What You'll Be Doing
- Writing engaging, well‑structured and client‑focused bid responses
- Reviewing tender questions and translating requirements into clear written content
- Working with subject matter experts to gather information and develop responses
- Editing and reviewing content to ensure accuracy, clarity and consistency
- Supporting bid reviews, final submissions and post‑bid feedback
- Contributing to lessons learned and continuous improvement
What We're Looking For
- Experience in a bid writing, proposals or similar role
- Strong written communication skills and excellent attention to detail
- Good organisational skills with the ability to manage deadlines
- A collaborative, proactive approach
- Experience in construction or the built environment is beneficial, but not essential
