At WPS, we're looking for an experienced Business Development Director to lead key client relationships across the social housing sector, shaping strategies that support long‑term partnerships, service excellence, and community impact 🌱

This is a senior, high‑impact role where you'll work with housing associations, local authorities, and registered providers, helping to grow and strengthen partnerships that deliver high‑quality, customer‑focused maintenance and asset management services.

💼 The Role

As Business Development Director, you'll focus on developing and maintaining strategic client relationships within social housing and housing maintenance frameworks, driving retention, growth, and long‑term value.

You'll act as a trusted advisor to clients and a senior partner to internal operational teams, ensuring services are aligned to contractual obligations, regulatory expectations, and resident outcomes.

Key responsibilities include:

• Building and strengthening relationships with housing associations, local authorities, and social housing providers
• Acting as the senior point of contact across repairs, maintenance and planned works contracts, understanding client priorities, KPIs, and regulatory drivers
• Identifying growth opportunities across existing frameworks, extensions, and new service lines (e.g. planned works, retrofit, compliance)
• Supporting mobilisation and onboarding of new contracts, ensuring a strong foundation for long‑term partnership success
• Shaping sector‑specific client strategies, aligned to WPS growth plans within social housing
• Acting as the voice of the client internally, influencing service delivery, innovation, and continuous improvement
• Monitoring contract performance against SLAs, KPIs, and resident satisfaction measures, providing insight to senior leaders
• Keeping ahead of policy, funding, and regulatory changes within the housing sector to inform strategy and client engagement

🗣️ Stakeholder Engagement & Influence

This is a highly visible role requiring credibility within the social housing and public sector landscape. You'll be confident:

• Engaging with senior stakeholders across housing associations, councils, and strategic partners
• Influencing at executive level, bringing insight into asset management, repairs, and customer service delivery
• Leading complex negotiations across long‑term maintenance and framework agreements
• Communicating value through clear, compelling storytelling
• Building trust through strong emotional intelligence and a genuine focus on resident outcomes and community impact

💰 Commercial & Financial Focus

Working closely with senior leaders, you'll support:

• Sustainable revenue growth across housing maintenance and property services contracts
• Commercial negotiations, pricing strategies, and framework positioning
• Contract retention, extensions, and pipeline development within the sector
• Financial performance, efficiency, and value delivery across key accounts
• Insightful reporting to inform strategic decision‑making and sector growth
