We're looking for a Design Manager to join our team in Leeds, supporting the delivery of a diverse portfolio of construction projects across Yorkshire and the surrounding region.

This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role from pre-construction through to project completion, helping to ensure that design information is coordinated, compliant, buildable and aligned with programme, cost and quality objectives. You'll work closely with consultants, clients, supply chain partners and project teams, helping to drive collaboration and achieve the best possible outcomes.

What You'll Be Doing

You'll manage and coordinate the design process throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring information is produced in line with project requirements and delivery programmes.

Working with multidisciplinary design teams, you'll review design information, manage design risks and support the resolution of technical challenges. You'll help ensure projects benefit from practical, efficient and innovative design solutions that support successful delivery.

You'll also play an important role during pre-construction, contributing to bid submissions, design strategies and planning activities, while supporting project teams throughout construction and handover.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for an experienced Design Manager with a strong understanding of design management within the construction industry.

You'll have experience working on medium to large construction projects and be confident managing consultant teams, coordinating design information and engaging with stakeholders at all levels.

You'll bring:

  • Experience managing the design process from pre-construction through to completion
  • Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, design coordination and buildability
  • The ability to identify and manage design risks and opportunities
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams
  • Relevant construction, engineering, architectural or design-related qualifications

Why Join Wates?

  • Work on a diverse portfolio of exciting construction projects
  • Play a key role in shaping successful project outcomes from concept through to completion
  • Access excellent learning, development and career progression opportunities
  • Competitive salary and benefits package, with flexibility where possible
  • Join a business committed to innovation, collaboration and continuous improvement
