Here at WPS, we have an exciting opportunity for a Design Manager to join our Planned Maintenance team based in Redditch.
You will play a key role in the successful delivery of planned social housing works, working closely with operational, commercial, and delivery teams to ensure designs are coordinated, compliant, and deliverable. This role will see you leading design from pre-construction through to completion, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with client expectations.
Our planned works programmes involve working in partnership with social housing providers, delivering improvement works that make a real difference to communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the design process across multiple planned maintenance projects
- Coordinate internal and external design teams, consultants, and supply chain partners
- Ensure design outputs are aligned with project requirements, programme, and budget
- Review designs to identify risks, opportunities, and value engineering solutions
- Work collaboratively with Commercial and Operations teams to ensure buildability and cost-effective solutions
- Ensure compliance with all statutory regulations, CDM requirements, and company standards
- Manage and track design deliverables, programmes, and information flow
- Support pre-construction activities including technical input into bids and tenders
- Attend client and design meetings, building strong working relationships
- Drive quality, innovation, and continuous improvement across all projects
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience as a Design Manager or Senior Design Coordinator within social housing, planned maintenance, or refurbishment
- Strong technical knowledge across building fabric, decarbonisation, or planned works projects
- Experience managing design from concept through to delivery phases
- Ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders and manage competing priorities
- Strong understanding of Health & Safety and regulatory requirements
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Commercial awareness and ability to contribute to value engineering
- Relevant construction qualification (HNC/HND/Degree) preferred
