Location: University of Leeds, Leeds
Contract: Full Time, Permanent
Shift Pattern: 4 on / 4 off
Hours: 8:00am - 8:00pm (12-hour shifts)
The Role
We are looking for a skilled and customer-focused Shift Engineer (Electrical) to join our Facilities Management team at the prestigious University of Leeds.
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified Electrical Engineer who enjoys working in a dynamic environment, ensuring critical building services are maintained to the highest standards while delivering an exceptional service to our client.
Working as part of a multi-skilled engineering team, you'll be responsible for planned and reactive maintenance across a diverse estate, helping to maintain a safe, compliant, and efficient environment for staff, students, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive electrical maintenance activities.
- Diagnose and repair electrical faults efficiently and safely.
- Complete maintenance tasks in line with statutory compliance and health & safety requirements.
- Support the operation and maintenance of building services systems and associated plant.
- Accurately complete job records, maintenance reports, and compliance documentation.
- Respond to emergency callouts and support business continuity requirements when necessary.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, subcontractors, and client stakeholders.
- Ensure all works are completed to agreed service levels and quality standards.
About You
We'd love to hear from you if you have:
- Electrical NVQ Level 3
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification.
- Experience working within Facilities Management, Building Services, or a similar maintenance environment.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Good understanding of health & safety and statutory compliance requirements.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- A proactive approach and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
