🔧 Lead Engineer – Facilities Management | Hard Services | M&E Maintenance

📍 Static Site Role

🚀 About the Opportunity

We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for a Lead Engineer to take ownership of a key client site, delivering high-quality hard FM services within a prestigious environment.

This is a senior, site-lead role — ideal for an experienced engineer ready to step up. While this position sits at supervisor level, it is important to note that there is no direct line management responsibility. Instead, the focus is on managing the site from a technical and stakeholder perspective, acting as the senior engineering presence.

🔩 About the Role

As Lead Engineer, you will be the primary point of contact on site, ensuring service delivery excellence while building strong relationships with key stakeholders across both JLL and Aviva.

You'll bring a strong technical background, confidence in decision-making, and a highly professional, client-facing approach.

🛠️ Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the senior engineering lead on site, ensuring high standards across all hard FM services
  • Manage day-to-day M&E maintenance activities, including PPM and reactive works
  • Serve as the main point of contact for clients, maintaining excellent working relationships
  • Liaise effectively with senior stakeholders across JLL and Aviva, providing updates and solutions
  • Oversee and coordinate subcontractors and service partners, including RAMS review and approvals
  • Prepare and manage quotes for additional works (up to £5k) and escalate where required
  • Provide site-specific technical recommendations aligned with SFG20 standards
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety procedures and Wates Operating Framework
  • Maintain accurate documentation and contribute to reporting where required
  • Support delivery of additional M&E works within technical competence

👤 About You

We're looking for a confident and capable engineer who can operate at a senior level and represent Wates professionally on a high-profile site.

Key Requirements:

  • ✔️ Technically astute with a strong M&E background
  • ✔️ Excellent communicator, confident dealing with stakeholders at all levels
  • ✔️ Very client-facing, with a professional and approachable manner
  • ✔️ Proven ability to build relationships with senior stakeholders (client-side and FM partners)
  • ✔️ Strong organisational and problem-solving skills

Qualifications:

  • Level 3 City & Guilds (Electrical or Mechanical) or equivalent
  • IOSH / NEBOSH or similar H&S qualification (desirable)
