Wates Group have a new opportunity for an Operations Director to join the team in our Wales & West region.

Within the group, Wates Residential is responding to the needs of its customers by developing housing schemes in partnership with both public and private sector organisations.

Our business covers new-build and partnership housing development activities, reaffirming our long-term commitment to deliver more and better homes; helping to tackle the UK's urgent need for new housing.

We have an opportunity for an Operations Director to deliver operational excellence in all construction activities from tender strategy to contract completions including working with colleagues on projects where Wates are in a Development Partnership. This role will ultimately ensure safe and profitable delivery to client and stakeholder satisfaction.

As part of the Wales & West leadership team you will be supporting the Wales Board in the delivery of key strategic priorities and collaborating with peers to always ensure the best outcome for the business and its partners

As an Operations Director, your responsibilities will include:

  • Full leadership accountability for all aspects of Health & Safety, Quality on the project including culture, training, compliance and reporting.
  • Owns the relationship with the client from pre-qualification through to tender settlement with consideration for future bid wins on the client account.
  • Responsible for setting the culture of the super-project for staff, sub-contractors and 3rd parties and promoting the Wates standards and the Company vision.
  • Maximise the performance management of the supply chain driving synergies both in the project and through the wider region as required.
  • Leading project teams through bid, pre-construction and project handover, identifying and mitigating project, functional and business risk.  

We are looking for someone with previous operational leadership experience who can plan strategically for future growth and development.  

To be successful in this role you will have the ability to lead and influence at all levels to deliver outstanding results, successfully develop relationships to create future opportunities and have a proactive approach to risk management and value-add.
