Due to continued growth within the business, Wates Smartspace is looking to appoint an experienced Estimator to join our expanding commercial team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a forward‑thinking division delivering high‑quality, complex fit‑out and refurbishment projects for blue‑chip clients.

The role is office‑based, with flexibility for the successful candidate to be based from either our London or Warrington offices.

The Role

As an Estimator at Wates Smartspace, you will play a key role in supporting the pre‑construction and delivery teams by producing accurate and competitive cost plans and tenders. You'll be involved from early client engagement through to final submission, helping to secure projects that align with our strategic growth plans.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing detailed estimates and cost plans for commercial fit‑out and refurbishment projects
  • Analysing drawings, specifications, and design information
  • Engaging with supply chain partners to obtain competitive quotations
  • Supporting value engineering and cost optimisation exercises
  • Working collaboratively with pre‑construction, commercial, and delivery teams
  • Assisting with tender reviews, risk assessments, and programme alignment

About You

We're looking for someone who can bring strong estimating expertise and a collaborative mindset. Ideally, you will have:

  • Proven experience as an Estimator within fit‑out, refurbishment, or construction
  • Strong cost planning and tendering skills
  • Confidence working from design and technical information
  • Good commercial awareness and attention to detail
  • The ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, growing environment
  • Strong communication and stakeholder‑management skills
