At Wates Smartspace, we specialise in dynamic fit-out and refurbishment projects across the retail, banking, commercial and digital sectors. We partner with some of the UK's most recognisable brands to create high‑performing, customer‑focused environments. Due to continued growth within our banking portfolio, we are now recruiting for an experienced Project Manager to support a series of small but fast-paced Lloyds Retail projects

The Role

As a Project Manager, you will oversee multiple small-scale retail fit‑out projects from early feasibility through to delivery and final handover. Working within a live, fast‑paced environment, you will ensure that each project is delivered safely, efficiently, on time and within budget.

This role requires excellent coordination skills, the ability to manage a high volume of concurrent projects, and strong communication with both internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the end‑to‑end management of multiple small commercial construction fit‑out projects within the Lloyds Banking portfolio.
  • Oversee feasibility assessments, surveys, programme planning and design coordination.
  • Manage site activities, ensuring works are delivered to Wates' standards for quality, safety and compliance.
  • Liaise with client representatives, consultants, supply chain partners and internal teams.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, reporting progress, risks and key milestones.
  • Ensure robust cost control, forecasting and budget management.
  • Drive a strong culture of collaboration, safety and customer excellence.

About You

We're looking for a proactive, solutions‑focused Project Manager with experience managing small to medium-scale retail or commercial fit-out projects. You'll thrive in a busy environment, be comfortable juggling multiple live projects, and bring excellent stakeholder‑management skills.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience delivering fit‑out or refurbishment projects, ideally within retail or banking sectors.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, compliance and H&S regulations.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and maintain clear communication.
  • Strong stakeholder-management skills, both internally and externally.
  • Excellent organisational and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Full UK driving licence.
