WPS are working with a long-standing social housing partner to deliver an exciting decarbonisation and retrofit programme aimed at improving the energy efficiency of homes and creating lasting benefits for residents. As part of this growing programme, we are looking for an experienced Project Surveyor to join the team and play a key role in the commercial success of the contract.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially focused surveyor who enjoys working closely with operational teams, clients and supply chain partners, while contributing to projects that make a real difference within local communities. Experience of retrofit, decarbonisation, SHDF or PAS 2035-led programmes would be highly advantageous. The role may also develop into managing and mentoring an Assistant Surveyor as the programme expands. This reflects responsibilities commonly associated with Project Surveyor roles within planned works and commercial delivery environments.

The Role

Reporting into the Commercial Manager, you will be responsible for the commercial management of a social housing planned works contract, ensuring projects are delivered safely, profitably and in line with client expectations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing all commercial aspects of planned maintenance and retrofit works.
  • Supporting pre and post-contract activities including procurement, valuations, forecasting and reporting.
  • Working closely with operational teams to maximise project performance and profitability.
  • Managing subcontractor procurement, payments and final accounts.
  • Producing accurate CVRs, forecasts and commercial reports.
  • Undertaking site visits to review progress, measurements and commercial opportunities.
  • Building strong relationships with clients, consultants and supply chain partners.
  • Identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities.
  • Supporting the delivery of decarbonisation measures including insulation, heating upgrades, renewable technologies and wider energy efficiency works.
  • Assisting with the development and mentoring of junior commercial staff, with the opportunity to manage an Assistant Surveyor in the future.

About You

We are keen to hear from candidates who have:

  • Experience working as a Project Surveyor, Quantity Surveyor or Senior Surveyor within social housing, planned works or refurbishment.
  • Strong commercial and contractual knowledge.
  • Experience managing subcontract procurement and commercial reporting.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with operational and client teams.
  • Experience within social housing planned maintenance programmes.

Desirable:

  • Experience delivering retrofit, decarbonisation or energy efficiency projects.
  • Knowledge of PAS 2035 and Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund (SHDF) programmes.
  • Experience with measures such as EWI, IWI, ASHPs, Solar PV, ventilation upgrades and insulation works.
  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline. Decarbonisation programmes commonly involve PAS 2035-led retrofit measures and energy-efficiency improvements across housing stock

Why Join?

  • Opportunity to work on a significant social housing decarbonisation programme.
  • Long-term secured work with a valued and established client.
  • Flexible approach to hybrid working.
  • Clear progression opportunities as the contract grows.
  • Chance to help improve homes, reduce fuel poverty and support the UK's net-zero ambitions.
  • Supportive culture focused on collaboration, development and career progression.

If you're an experienced commercial professional looking to be part of a growing retrofit and planned works programme, we'd love to hear from you. Join us and help deliver sustainable improvements to homes while building a rewarding long-term career.
