At Wates Residential, we're creating places where people can thrive. We're looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join our Cardiff team, working on a major residential development project that will deliver much-needed new homes and vibrant communities across South Wales.

As part of one of the UK's leading residential developers and contractors, you'll play a key role in the commercial success of the project, working alongside talented colleagues in a supportive and collaborative environment.

About the Role

As a Quantity Surveyor, you'll be responsible for managing the commercial performance of the project, ensuring robust cost control, contract management and procurement throughout the construction lifecycle.

Working closely with operational teams, supply chain partners and stakeholders, you'll help maximise value, manage risk and contribute to the successful delivery of high-quality residential developments.

As a Quantity Surveyor you will:

  • Managing subcontract procurement, valuations and payments.
  • Preparing and maintaining accurate cost forecasts and reporting.
  • Monitoring project expenditure and identifying opportunities for value engineering.
  • Administering subcontract agreements and contractual obligations.
  • Managing change control processes and commercial risk.
  • Supporting the preparation and agreement of final accounts.
  • Building strong relationships with project teams, clients and supply chain partners.
  • Ensuring compliance with company procedures and commercial governance requirements.

What We're Looking For

We're keen to hear from commercially focused professionals who have:

  • Experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within residential construction or housing development.
  • Strong knowledge of cost management, procurement and contract administration.
  • Experience managing subcontractor accounts and valuations.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • A proactive, collaborative approach and strong commercial awareness.
  • Degree qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • Membership, or working towards membership, of RICS or a relevant professional body is desirable.

Our commitments:
