The opportunity
WPS are looking for an experienced Electrically Biased Resident Engineer to join our Facilities Management team, based full-time at Mowbray House supporting our prestigious client Browne Jacobson LLP.
This is a site-based role where you'll take ownership of all electrical maintenance activity, while also delivering a high-quality, customer-focused FM service within a professional legal office environment.
Key responsibilities
As Resident Engineer, you'll be responsible for:
- Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) of electrical systems in line with SFG20, delivered via FSI GO
- Electrical inspections, servicing and testing to BS7671 (18th Edition) standards
- Reactive maintenance and fault finding to minimise downtime and disruption
- Emergency lighting, fire alarms and compliance-related testing and record keeping
- Monitoring and operating Building Management Systems (BMS) including HVAC controls
- Undertaking small electrical works (e.g. sockets, lighting circuits, minor installations)
- Escorting and supervising specialist subcontractors on site
- Accurate completion of logbooks, CAFM updates and job reports using handheld technology
- Supporting the Account Manager when required and assisting across other sites as needed
- Providing general FM support including:
- Minor painting and fabric repairs
- Basic plumbing works (taps, toilet seats)
- Door and ironmongery repairs
- Furniture assembly/disassembly for office moves
- Ensuring domestic water systems comply with L8 (tap temperature monitoring)
- Maintaining a high standard of health & safety compliance, including COSHH, RAMS
- Demonstrating professional behaviours aligned to Browne Jacobson LLP's service culture

What we're looking for
Essential
- Completed Electrical Apprenticeship
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) including 18th Edition
- Electrically biased with strong fault-finding skills
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar FM or building services environment
- Experience working in occupied, open-plan office environments
- Strong knowledge of BS7671 and relevant ACOPs
- Comfortable using CAFM systems and handheld technology
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Good written English with strong attention to detail
- Health & Safety trained (Working Safely)
Desirable
- PAT Testing qualification
- Electrical testing and inspection experience
- Multi-skilled background (basic mechanical, plumbing or fabric works)
- Previous experience in a similar client-facing or legal/office environment
- Supervisory or informal leadership experience
