WPS have a fantastic opportunity for a Section Manager or Assistant Site Manager to join our Planned Works team in the Barnsley area, delivering refurbishment programmes across occupied social housing properties.

You'll be responsible for the day-to-day management of planned maintenance workstreams, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role would suit an experienced Assistant Site Manager ready to step up, or an established Section Manager with a background in social housing planned works.

Typical programmes include kitchens, bathrooms, roofing, internal and external refurbishments, working closely with operational teams, subcontractors, and client representatives.


Key responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day site activity across planned works programmes
  • Supervise operatives and subcontractors to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient delivery
  • Ensure works are programmed and delivered in line with KPIs, H&S, and contractual requirements
  • Carry out pre- and post-inspections and support quality assurance
  • Maintain strong working relationships with residents, clients, and internal teams
  • Monitor progress, labour, materials, and productivity
  • Produce site reports covering health & safety, progress, and performance

What we're looking for

Essential:

  • Previous experience as a Section Manager or Assistant Site Manager
  • Social housing planned works experience
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Strong working knowledge of health & safety and site compliance
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams in occupied properties

Desirable:

  • SSSTS (SMSTS also considered)
  • Experience working on kitchens, bathrooms, or refurbishment programmes
