We are looking to appoint an experienced Senior SHE Advisor to support our London operations. This is a key position within the business, responsible for driving high standards of Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) performance across multiple projects and influencing both operational and leadership teams. Initially, this role will be supporting a high profile heritage cut and carve project in the heart of London.

You will play a pivotal role in embedding a proactive safety culture, ensuring compliance, and supporting project teams from pre-construction through to delivery.


Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities

  • Ensure all projects are visited on a regular basis, attending personally in line with agreed schedules with the SHE Manager, and completing visit management reports (VMRs) after each visit
  • Coach project teams and regional leadership on risk identification, management, and mitigation strategies
  • Lead investigations into incidents as required, and support project teams in developing strong investigation techniques and learnings
  • Carry out regular reviews of project RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements) and project plans, ensuring they are robust, compliant, and fit for purpose
  • Ensure full compliance with Wates Policies and Standards (WPS) across all projects
  • Promote and drive the use of Airsweb for incident reporting, ensuring the timely close-out of all actions
  • Support project teams and regional leadership in bid and pre-construction phases, promoting early risk identification and mitigation within design and planning
  • Actively develop and maintain a strong network across the supply chain, ensuring Wates SHE policies are understood and consistently implemented
  • Work closely with project teams to lead SHE interventions at site level, driving engagement and best practice
  • Communicate key learning outcomes, insights, and good practice from both within Wates and across the wider industry
  • Attend regional board meetings, presenting the SHE performance dashboard and providing detailed analysis of incidents and trends

About You

  • Proven experience in a Senior SHE / HSE advisory role within the construction sector
  • Strong working knowledge of UK health & safety legislation and construction best practices
  • Experience within a main contractor or Tier 1 environment (desirable)
  • Confident communicator, able to influence and challenge at all levels
  • Experienced in incident investigation and reporting systems 
  • Ability to work across multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. NEBOSH/IOSH Construction Certificate/Diploma, or equivalent)
