We're looking for an experienced and proactive Senior SHE Advisor to join our team delivering works at HMP Hindley, helping ensure the highest standards of Safety, Health and Environmental performance across a complex and high-profile project.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced SHE professional who enjoys engaging with operational teams, influencing positive behaviours and driving continuous improvement within a dynamic construction environment.

The Role

As Senior SHE Advisor, you'll be a visible presence across the project, providing professional advice, coaching and support to operational teams, supply chain partners and project leadership. You'll play a key role in promoting a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance and helping teams identify, manage and mitigate risk effectively.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing expert SHE guidance and support across the project.
  • Conducting regular site inspections, audits and SHE reviews.
  • Reviewing RAMS and project plans to ensure compliance and suitability.
  • Coaching project teams on risk management and safe working practices.
  • Supporting incident investigations and identifying lessons learned.
  • Delivering SHE training, briefings and awareness initiatives.
  • Ensuring accurate reporting and timely close out of actions.
  • Building strong relationships with operational teams and supply chain partners.
  • Promoting continuous improvement and sharing best practice across the business.

About You

We're looking for someone who combines strong technical SHE knowledge with the ability to influence, engage and coach others at all levels.

You'll ideally have:

  • Significant SHE experience within construction, infrastructure, engineering or a related high-risk environment.
  • Excellent knowledge of UK health, safety and environmental legislation.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience coaching and influencing operational teams and senior leaders.
  • The ability to analyse data and produce meaningful reports and recommendations.
  • Experience investigating incidents and driving corrective actions.
  • Strong organisational skills and a solutions-focused approach.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • NEBOSH Diploma, Level 6 NVQ or equivalent qualification.
  • CertIOSH membership (or equivalent professional standing).
  • Full UK driving licence.

Desirable:

  • Working towards or achieved CMIOSH.
  • Environmental qualifications (IEMA or similar).

 

Experience of working within secure, custodial, MOD, defence or highly regulated environments would be advantageous, although not essential. Candidates must be able to satisfy all project-specific security and vetting requirements associated with the role.
