We are delivering the major new HMP Welland Oaks development and are looking for an experienced Logistics Manager to take full ownership of site logistics. This role is central to how the project operates day‑to‑day — ensuring safety, efficiency, and a positive experience for everyone who works on or visits the site.

The role:

As the Logistics Manager, you will lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of all logistics activities across the site. You'll manage traffic flows (including up to 150 daily deliveries), supervise a large logistics team, maintain welfare and office standards, and ensure the site remains safe, organised, and compliant at all times.

What you'll be doing:  

  • Traffic & Access Management

    • Develop and manage the site traffic strategy.
    • Coordinate with police, local authorities, neighbours, and other stakeholders.
    • Ensure smooth and safe management of all deliveries.

    Site Operations

    • Oversee waste management and continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Manage site security and boundaries.
    • Ensure safe use of hoists, tower cranes, and vertical transportation.
    • Maintain clear staircases, corridors, and adequate waste bin distribution.

    Health, Safety & Environment

    • Lead fire procedures, signage updates, and emergency testing.
    • Keep environmental records, meter readings, and delivery/mileage data.
    • Ensure statutory and safety signage remains accurate.

    Team & Stakeholder Management

    • Lead a logistics team of 30–40 operatives at peak.
    • Deliver daily briefings and maintain strong communication.
    • Chair logistics and delivery meetings with subcontractors.
    • Produce bi‑monthly newsletters for local residents.

    Welfare & Temporary Services

    • Ensure offices and welfare areas remain clean, well‑stocked, and industry‑leading.
    • Oversee temporary power and plumbing on site.
    • Work closely with the canteen provider to maintain service standards.

What you will bring: 

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:

  • Experience managing logistics on a large, live construction site.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to plan ahead and respond quickly to changes.
  • Confidence managing multiple stakeholders and large teams.
