Are you NEBOSH qualified and looking to develop your career in Safety, Health and Environment? Perhaps you're already working in SHE, you're a construction Supervisor looking for a change of direction, or you're considering how your skills from another industry or the Armed Forces could transfer into construction?
We're looking for a SHE Advisor to support our project teams across the East Midlands, Yorkshire and North East.
You'll work alongside operational teams across a variety of construction projects, providing practical advice, support and guidance to help create safe, healthy and responsible working environments. You'll have the opportunity to build your construction knowledge while working with experienced colleagues across the region.
What You'll Be Doing
You'll spend time with our project teams, providing practical SHE advice and helping colleagues understand and implement the standards expected across our sites.
Your role will include:
- Providing advice and guidance on safety, health and environmental matters
- Supporting site teams with inspections, audits and SHE reviews
- Helping identify hazards and supporting effective risk management
- Reviewing working practices and promoting continuous improvement
- Supporting incident investigations and sharing lessons learned
- Building positive relationships with project teams and supply chain partners
- Promoting a proactive culture where everyone takes responsibility for health, safety and wellbeing
What We're Looking For
A NEBOSH qualification is essential, but we're open-minded about where you've gained your experience.
You may already be working in a SHE role within construction, or perhaps you're a Site Supervisor with a strong interest in health and safety who is ready for a career change.
We'd also welcome applications from NEBOSH-qualified people from other industries or an Armed Forces background who can demonstrate transferable skills and a genuine interest in developing a career within construction.
You'll bring:
- A NEBOSH qualification
- A practical understanding of health and safety principles and risk management
- Strong communication skills and the confidence to engage with people at all levels
- The ability to positively influence working practices
- A collaborative, approachable and solutions-focused mindset
- Willingness to travel across the East Midlands, Yorkshire and North East
Construction experience would be beneficial, but it isn't essential. What's important is that you can demonstrate strong safety awareness, practical judgement and the ability to build effective relationships.
Why Join Wates?
- Build a career in SHE across a diverse portfolio of construction projects
- Gain exposure to different projects, teams and environments across the region
- Use your existing experience and transferable skills in a new direction
- Work alongside experienced SHE and operational professionals
- Access excellent learning, development and career progression opportunities
- Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package
