Site Manager

Wates Smartspace is experiencing significant growth across our portfolio, and as a result, we are seeking committed and driven Site Managers across the UK to join our expanding delivery teams.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on some of the most interesting framework, fit‑out and new build construction projects across both the public and private sectors. The Role

As a Site Manager, you will be responsible for the day‑to‑day management of projects on site, ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the highest quality standards. You'll work closely with Project Managers, commercial teams, supply chain partners and clients to ensure successful project outcomes.

Projects vary in size and complexity and include framework delivery, refurbishment, fit out and new build construction across multiple sectors.

Key Responsibilities

• Full responsibility for managing construction activities on site from start to completion
• Leading and motivating site teams and subcontractors to deliver projects safely and efficiently
• Ensuring all works are carried out in line with Wates Smartspace standards, health & safety requirements and company processes
• Managing site programmes, logistics, short‑term planning and progress reporting
• Maintaining strong client relationships and representing the business professionally on site
• Coordinating supply chain partners and ensuring quality control across all trades
• Driving a positive safety culture and maintaining exemplary site housekeeping
• Contributing to a collaborative and solution‑focused site environment

About You

You'll be a proactive and organised Site Manager with a strong construction background and a passion for delivering high‑quality projects.

Essential:

• Proven experience as a Site Manager within construction or fit out environments
• Strong knowledge of health & safety legislation and site management best practice
• Ability to manage multiple work streams and deliver under pressure
• Excellent communication and leadership skills
• SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid certifications

Beneficial (but not essential):

• Experience delivering projects within retail, banking, education or workspace fit out sectors
• Framework delivery experience
• Refurbishment or live‑environment project experience
