Role Overview

Wates Smartspace is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Estimator who can operate confidently in a high‑energy environment with strong personalities and senior stakeholders. This role is for a proven senior estimator who is ready to step up—with the potential to grow into running an estimating function in the future, but who is not currently leading a department.

You will be a key commercial voice in the business, capable of presenting clearly, challenging constructively, and holding the room at senior levels.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation of complex, high‑value tenders from first principles
• Present estimates confidently in bid reviews and senior forums
• Manage estimating strategy, risk, and commercial positioning
• Mentor and support Estimators within the team
• Engage with clients, consultants, and senior internal stakeholders
• Contribute to the ongoing development of estimating processes and standards

About You

• Significant experience operating as a Senior Estimator within fit‑out, refurbishment, or construction
• High level of technical and commercial competence
• Strong personality with the credibility to influence senior decision‑makers
• Proven ability to present effectively and hold the room
• Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, demanding environment
• Ambition to step up into estimating leadership in the medium term
