The Vacancy

We have an opportunity for a Head of Financial Accounting & Reporting to take full responsibility for the ‘traditional’ finance and accounting function of Wates Living Space, providing business and performance insight and challenge. In addition, the role is a steward for the business with an eye to promoting governance in Wates Living Space and ensures business and financial control is in place both internally and with our business partners.

Key Accountabilities will include:

Lead a small team to deliver all aspects of financial and management accounting output, including:


  • Lead production of all WLS financial reporting for monthly and quarterly Board and QPR meetings. Present financials and deliver key messages to WLS Board, QPR and WD team.
  • Day to Day management of finance relationships
  • Proactively track BU performance against budgets and strategic objectives. Anticipate and address variances arising.
  • Drive timely and accurate reporting of monthly management information, budgets and forecasts, tax submissions and annual statutory accounts which are prepared by Finance team.
  • Oversee production of Annual strategic model and Ten-Year Plan to generate outputs for strategic and budget setting purposes

We are looking for a qualified Accountant who has hands on Commercial experience within the industry.

To be successful in this role you will be highly analytical and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and build effective relationships at all levels.

This role is a Fixed Term Contract (FTC) for 6 months.
