Introducing our purpose
Our new purpose
Reimagining places for people to thrive
In the face of today’s environmental and social pressures, we know the built environment must do more.
It can help unlock people’s potential, improve health and wellbeing, and shape future prospects. It can change lives and strengthen communities in ways few other industries can.
We want to lead the way in making this happen. We have a proud legacy for quality, safety and social value. So, we’re setting ourselves a new purpose to guide everything we do. By making sure every decision ladders up to this purpose, we can take our business into the future and have an even greater positive impact in the world.
"In 2024, our 127th year of being in business, we are launching a new purpose and strategy for the Wates Group. Our new purpose, ‘Reimagining places for people to thrive’, will help us adapt and transform to tackle the seismic challenges that we face – as a company, an industry and as society as a whole. We have always looked to be at the forefront of positive change within our industry – and that is an approach we strengthen today."
Eoghan O’Lionaird, Chief Executive
Our promises
To support our purpose, we’re making three enduring promises which explain what living our purpose means in practice. They are:
Thriving places
Working with customers, partners and communities to create places that are more sustainable, inclusive, and full of opportunity.
Thriving planet
Protecting nature and taking action on climate change by collaborating and innovating with our partners.
Thriving people
Creating opportunities and relationships so that everyone who works for and with us feels included, invested in and treated with care.
