As a key part of the Pre-Construction Team, you will be responsible for managing the entire bid process, ensuring that proposals are well-organized, professional, and competitive. ABOUT THE ROLE Our Bid Managers are a valuable part of our business, and you will work closely with internal stakeholders, clients, and consultants to secure contracts that align with Wates' vision and business objectives. AS OUR BID MANAGER YOU WILL: Manage and coordinate the end-to-end bid process, including PQQs, ITTs, and tender submissions. Develop win strategies and bid themes that align with client requirements. Lead bid planning, ensuring timelines and deadlines are met. Collaborate with key stakeholders such as Estimators, Planners, and Design Managers to ensure a comprehensive and competitive bid. Produce high-quality written content for bids and presentations. Ensure bids reflect Wates’ commitment to quality, sustainability, and health and safety standards. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR: To excel in this role, you need to have a comprehensive understanding of bid management and production, along with a solid grasp of the construction industry, pricing, and costing. You should be well-versed in best practices within the field. Your skills in project management, bid strategy, production, and process are crucial. You must be an excellent communicator, capable of effectively engaging both internal and external stakeholders. Strong negotiation and presentation skills are essential, as is the ability to conduct thorough risk analysis. Additionally, you should possess strong people and team management abilities to lead and coordinate effectively. Your work will ensure our submissions are compelling, compliant, and aligned with Wates’ brand and values.As a Proposals Manager, you will: Collaborate with the Senior Proposals Manager and wider team to develop responses that are clear, engaging, and highlight the benefits of our offer. Create structured answer plans for each question, allocate writing responsibilities, and support the development of high-quality content. Lead workshops and meetings to gather insights and share knowledge across the team. Shape strategies for responding to quality questions, ensuring alignment with client priorities and Wates’ values. Bring creativity to every submission, ensuring each one is visually and narratively compelling. Monitor and communicate relevant market and competitor intelligence to inform bid strategy. Use tools such as Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign) and Microsoft Office to produce polished, professional documents. Review responses for consistency in messaging, tone, and use of key phrases and themes. Senior Estimator – London (Finsbury)As part of our strategic growth, we’re looking for a Senior Estimator to join our WPS team based in Finsbury, London. This is a high-impact role where you’ll lead the preparation of multi-million-pound tenders, helping us secure profitable work and shape the future of our Estimating function.You’ll be working at the heart of our WPS Housing Maintenance operations, with a strong focus on responsive repairs, voids maintenance, and compliance. Your understanding of commercial models such as Price per Property, Schedule of Rates, and Price per Repair will be key to developing competitive and efficient proposals.Key Responsibilities Interpret ITT documents to identify risks, opportunities, and submission requirements. Lead the preparation and submission of tenders, ensuring compliance with internal processes. Present commercial proposals at key tender meetings and engage with senior stakeholders across the business. Collaborate with Operational and Commercial leads to develop innovative delivery solutions. Determine the most cost-effective proposals using labour analysis, subcontractor quotations, and delivery models. Populate client pricing documents accurately and on time. Line manage and mentor a team of two Estimators.What We’re Looking ForYou’ll be a confident communicator and strategic thinker with a strong commercial mindset. Your CV should demonstrate: Proven experience in the housing maintenance sector, particularly in responsive and voids workstreams.
