The Vacancy
As a Business Management Trainee at Wates, you’ll be given the fantastic opportunity to collaborate with stakeholders across the business, gaining hands on experience through functional rotations developing your commercial knowledge that relates to Commercial Production and Estimating as well as other key areas of a project lifecycle. Upon completion of the Programme, you will be able to further develop your career in either Site Management or Quantity Surveying.
What you will do
Over the course of the programme, you will:
- Inputting into bid writing and tenders
- Being involved in client stakeholder management, understanding customer drivers and demonstrating excellent customer service
- Analysing and reporting on project deliverables and KPI’s
- Supporting on Health and Safety on site and gaining knowledge on environmental and social factors
- Collaborating and engaging with colleagues and networks to develop your understanding of their area, building expertise as you learn.

Eligibility criteria
To be considered for this opportunity, you must:
- Be on track to graduate in 2026 or earlier with a degree in any discipline.
- Be working towards or have achieved a minimum 2:2 classification.
- Hold a full UK driving licence – location specific (details below)
Locations available
- Redditch.
- Barnsley.
- West Midlands – full UK driving licence required. Travel between projects expected, especially between Wolverhampton and Birmingham.
Programme duration
This is a 2-year graduate programme offering hands-on experience, structured development, and placements across different teams.
